This session was one of my first, after becoming a new mom.
My daughter born only a month and a half before Ben. We are lucky enough to be friends with this lovely family, so it was a session that was done, slowly; with my daughter and partner in tow. Nursing and chatting and trading the labour stories that were still so fresh in our minds.
This session was a lot of firsts.
Photo ideas. Anxiety. Newborns.
Ben was a cuddler. He did not want to be out of arms.
Sometimes, I think those are the best images. Mom and Dad, and baby, just doing what they do best. Cuddling.
Parents rocking the newborn sway.
Parent's in awe.
Babes in arms.
Sometimes, I walk into a session with ideas, or maybe parents have ideas.
Other times, I walk into a session with a vague plan and know I will walk away with something fabulous.
Sometimes, mother nature laughs at my plans.
A blizzard after all the snow has melted?
Sometimes, there are these dream like days, where you just watch of in awe of everything that surrounds you.
I think parents forget how small babies once were, until you see the new baby and the older baby together.
It is always an honour when you are asked to photograph someone close to you.
My cousin, who is basically my sister had her first little boy a year ago. (Honestly, it feels like yesterday)
It was exciting to meet him, and you could see so much of the two families in his newness. He had his uncle’s stink eye. The family nose, his dads eyelashes and eyes, and the full head of hair.
He was so new, and yet so much personality, in such a little guy and its only grown exponentially since then.
I am honoured when clients invite me into their homes and lives and share what they sometimes think isn’t great.
It gives me a chance to show them more than they can see.
I can nerd out (just a bit) when I see the light in a home, and how it can transform a space into something completely magical.
The light that shone into this lovely Momma’s room, blanketed her in a way full of peace and warmth.
